Southwell Heritage Trust (SHT) was incorporated as a private limited company, limited by guarantee, in January 2010, and is a registered charity. The trustees and members of the Trust are drawn from various heritage groups, the town council, and other interested parties.
The Objects are:
· To secure the preservation and protection of features of special historic interest for the benefit of the nation.
· To facilitate and enhance public knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of the rich heritage of Southwell.
· To establish and maintain a Heritage Centre in Southwell.
In furtherance of the objectives of the charity the Trust is the promoter of the Discovering Southwell Project:
Linking Place, Community and Culture
‘Discovering Southwell’ is an ambitious project to celebrate the people, places, history, culture and nature of Southwell. It is dedicated to encouraging a deeper connection to Southwell through stories, objects and shared experiences of its past, present and future. It is for everybody who lives, works, trades, visits and enjoys being in Southwell.
Two members of this Society are Trustees of Southwell Heritage Trust and serve on the steering group of Discovering Southwell. Unfortunately, the current pandemic has delayed the progress of the project, but we will, hopefully, make progress later in the year.
